What is ‘Cold Storage’?
Our ‘Cold Storage’ plan is a relatively unique offering that we provide to help our customers in times of business downturn.
If your business is undergoing restructuring, temporarily taking sales offline, or any other reason for not needing your website at that moment in time, you can move it to one of our ‘Cold Storage’ plans to save some money whilst still retaining all of your files.
In these situations, most web hosts will give you two options:
- Continue paying for your hosting at full price.
- Cancel your hosting and lose all of your website files, configuration and designs.
My Web, on the other hand, allows you to move to a cold storage plan where all of your website files, configurations and designs are securely archived, ready to be restored to full hosting whenever the time suits you.
The benefits of this are simple – you save money by cancelling a service you no longer need (hosting) but are still able to retain everything that you’ve already either worked hard on (if you designed your website yourselves) or paid hard earned money for (if you paid a web designer).
What does it cost?
Our Cold Storage plans are charged based on the size of your website archive (to the nearest Gigabyte*). This means that you’re only paying for what you need, not a penny more!
When you first switch to a ‘Cold Storage’ plan from another My Web hosting plan, we charge a £25, one-off set up fee, to cover the time it takes us to move everything around for you. If you are moving from another web host, this cost will vary depending on their configuration, up to a maximum of £40 one-off set up fee. From then on, you simply pay for the storage you’re using. As an example, an 11GB website would cost £16 per year (which works out to just £1.33 per month!).
Sounds good, where do I sign up?
